Trek Highlights:
– We are familiar with Tiger Valley on the way to Bhushi dam. Mrugagad is situated in the Tiger Valley.
– There are some water tanks, some remnants of old houses, rock steps and a small pond on the Fort.
– Since Umberkhind and Waghdari can be seen from the top, this Fort was used to keep a watch on these areas and the surrounding villages.
– The Fort is located near Pali where we can visit the famous Ashtavinayak Ganapati (Shri Ballaleshwar) Mandir. Among the Ashtavinayakas, Ballaleshwar is the only Ganesha who is famous by the name of his devotee and who is dressed up as a Brahmin.
– Unhere Hot Water Springs are located just 1 km away from Pali. These Springs fill 3 tanks and are rich in sulphur. The hot water is said to have medicinal properties and one can take a dip in one of these tanks.
– Umberkhind memorial stands as a magnificent witness to the brilliant guerilla warfare strategy used by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to defeat a huge Mughal army on 2nd February, 1661.
